Artist - Dawn Reeves

Summary

Contemporary visual artist, writer and facilitator currently focusing on performance art, undertaking an MA in Performance Practices at ArtEZ in the Netherlands. Dawn’s practice uses alter-egos who make performance works, public art interventions, film and action-paintings. Motivated by a continuing interest in transformative personal growth and extending beyond the self to support societal change, her research includes ideas of becoming and the networked self, how we build bridges from the “I” to the “we” and the role of the body in this; exploring collective versions of the self that build resilience, agency, empathy and avoid othering.

Writing is part of her work with thirteen published books and articles for UK public service press outlets. As a story activist Dawn facilitates the voices of others, facilitating creative and collaborative processes to enable new voices to be heard and published. Currently based in Nottingham UK, Dawn has worked in Germany, Nigeria and South Africa, Japan and Canada.
